Tokyo, Japan Trip 2012 - Day 2

November 30, 2012

Went to Ikekuburo. Had to do some transfers on the subway, first at Ueno, next at Kayabacho, then at Iidabashi and finally reaching Ikekuburo after much tour round the city. This is what happened when you don't dare to venture into operators other than Tokyo Metro Subway.

The first food of the day was Shakey's Buffet. They have pizzas, 3 types of sphagetti, curry sauce, steamed rice and fried potato. Water is free or you can have other drinks but at an additional cost per drink.

There are various types of pizzas but they are all thin-crusted and the turnover is high. They even have dessert-themed pizzas which are great at the end of your buffet.

Walked around after our brunch and saw this gigantic Rilakkuma. It's so huggable.

Over here, we visited Tokyu Hands which is a Craft cum Lifestyle cum DIY cum Toy cum Stationery cum ... store. All in one building. Believe you will love this place when you visit it. During our last trip to Osaka the year before, Tokyu Hands was the store that we visited many-a-time, besides Yodobashi Camera.

Sunshine City is a spot recommended in Ikekuburo. The first thing we saw was ice-cream. I shared an ice-cream with Billie and it was great eating ice-cream in a cold, cold weather.

At the atrium, we saw the Japan Salvation Army Band performing Christmas songs.

Next we went up the Sunshine 60 to the highest level (60th floor, of course). It sure was a great sight (to me).

At each side, there is a spot where you can walk up 2 steps and look directly down. I don't dare to stand up and look directly down, so just have to sit and peep down.

Here's a photo of me and my family taking a rest before .....

checking up the "One Piece Exhibition" they had up there.

That's all at Sunshine City. The 3 of us are not shoppers so we don't have much to see.

We went to Madarake, a great place for anime fans. Billie's favourite place, I should say. She can find her CDs and fan books. A much recommended place for Billie-alikes.

Animate is another place but we find the items very expensive (went to the one in Osaka the year before) so we skipped Animate this round in Tokyo.

For dinner, we had simple stuff - ramen and fried rice from this little shop along a rather deserted road away from Ikekuburo. That's what we like, simple comfort food in such a cold weather.
