Fleamarket and Updates

Joined a fleamarket recently and well, did make some income to cover the rental. I was selling mostly stuff you don't find in fleamarkets. Afterall, fleamarket is one where you sell second-hand goods. However, this definition has somewhat shifted. You can now call it craft/fleamarket. Yep, I was selling crafts like small notebooks (in pic), marking clips (in pic), handmade cards, peel-off stickers, etc.

These small notebooks are not handmade, but they are redecorated. I covered the cover with coloured paper and just add in stamped figures, cut-outs, etc. I only sold 20 on that day. Well, at least I did sell some of them!

These are marking clips from Japan. They are kawaii ("cute" in Japanese). These are preferably be used as paperclips instead of bookmarks as they are made of metal and may cut the paper (you bookmark a page but you use paperclip to hold more than a piece of paper). Also, not for children under 7 (this is a kiasu parent - "kiasu" is someone who doesn't want to lose out).

I also advertise cross stitching, tatting and card making services on that day too. My friend saw the tatted cross bookmark and am working on it for her.

Other than that, I don't have any other orders. Sad but am still glad that there are people who stop by at my stall and look at my stuff. To all these people (customers and potential customers), I thank you. Am sorry I'm not a good salesperson as I don't talk much but hope that the products are satisfactory to you.

Currently am working on a photo cross stitch for a customer. The piece is half completed so I'm finishing it. I underestimated the time so I have to work doubly hard to finish the piece on time and without compromising on the quality of my work. Seems like I never learn my lesson in estimation **Sigh**.

Tatting Pieces - 04 February 2012

Slow progress. Blame it on Chinese New Year, or anything, other than on myself (just kidding). Am just lazy, that's all.

Being a near perfectionist, I have redone some of them, but using blue and yellow and correcting those mistakes I made.

Am working hard now (a few more hours to my class) and hope I can get more done (and have them nicely done too).



Tatting Pieces - 15 Jan 2012

Procrastination has caught up with me, once again. Finished these pieces below, photographed them on 16 Jan, but post them now.

The white lacy bookmark is tatted using Anchor size 10 thread. Never liked the feeling of this thread, so I will continue to use them until I'm finished with the ball.

As for the mortifs, I'm using Olympus 50g (after much thoughts, they are not size 20 as I first thought, but never mind). I love the feeling of these yarn and I don't get tired from using them. I experimented mixture of colours and that's the results - GREAT!

I was telling myself last week that I should do an update every weekend but as I've said - Procrastination! It's easier than what Nike would have said "Just DO it!". Alright, will try.

Today is Chinese New Year's eve, so I guess I can have an excuse for not working hard or not at all for the past few days. But life has to go on. Time does not wait for anyone. I'd better start to get life moving. I have lots of work in my mind that I want to do, so I have to push Mr. Procrastination away. Wish me luck!

Tatted Lacy Bookmark

This is the 2nd project in my tatting class. Being new to tatting, I made a few mistakes and had to unpick **groan**. I'm glad everything turned out well in the end, especially the tassel.

It was curly and after blocking, it looks good. I have given it to Billie, and hope she likes it.

My First Tatting Piece Completed!

Learnt to tat this Beginner's Mortif in my class. Love it. It was difficult to do the double stitch initially. But after I understand how it's done, everything seems to move along more easily.

Am working on my 2nd class project now, which is a lacy bookmark. It'd be in blue variegated. My girl has already booked this "soon-to-be" finished bookmark.
